the WILD RIDERS
Meet the Riders

Abigail  & Meishja have deep rooted backgrounds in horsemanship, public performance, and athletics; making their shows together absolutely stunning!

"For us, performing and sharing the art of trick riding with the nation is an opportunity we are always very thankful for. We have countless fond memories of our times on the road; and feel that same joy and excitement every time we load up the rig.  Our hearts belong to this rare and beautiful sport. It has taken us further than we could have ever dreamed and it continues to open doors.  We love meeting new friends and talking with fans.  Hopefully, we can meet you along the way, too.

But, if we don’t get to meet you out there, here’s a little something about us..."

Abigail Petersen  is the manager of The Wild Riders. For her, trick riding has already taken her to many exciting places. In the summer of 2006, she performed in Ocean City, MD for three months. Then to complete her Equine Science degree, she flew 19 hours to Mt. White, Australia to intern with the masterminds of Harris Entertainment- movie horse trainer, Heath Harris, and, Olympic show jumper, Krissy Harris. Abigail’s favorite horse is her new ride Poquito, a big bay paint with a heart of gold, and her new BLM Mustang, Troubadour.

Abigail loves everything about her job, and it shows in her performances!

Meishja Petersen has already spent two decades in the saddle, riding since she was in diapers. With a strong background in athletics, her trick riding skills came with ease when she started with The Coyotes Troupe in 2004. She is currently pursuing her Vet Tech degree with a minor in Equine Science. While most college students go to the tropics for vacation, Meishja instead went to “Trick Riding Boot Camp"! She trained rigorously under the expertise of trick riding legends, Linda Scholtz and Karen Vold at the Vold's Red Top Ranch. Meishja’s favorite horse is her beautiful bay paint, Kash.

All-in-all, Meishja adds up to be a triple threat– brains, brawn, and beauty.

Tucker Manning sometimes rides with the Petersen sisters, and is the newest member of the Wild Riders. He has taken to trick riding famously!  He hasn't met a a trick he can't do yet, and has even invented some smooth stunts of his own.  He has a natural riding ability and shomanship, making him the perfect addition to the team.  His specialty are amazing vault combos that are rarely performed.  Tucker's favorite horse to stunt on is Apache, known around the barn as The Appy.

Tucker will amaze any crowd with his unique vault combos.

Looking at Heath Harris's website, from Horsetalk show, and found you. Always interested in people who use natural horsemanship to get their horses to do phenomenal things, so I was wondering, if while you train the horses, are you using primarily natural horsemanship?

Hi Meishja, Thank you for doing such a great job as our waitress last Thursday. We enjoyed hearing about you and your wonderful family. Best of luck in your trick riding career. If you come to Des Moines, let me know and I'll buy you coffee or lunch!

What tricks did you guys start out doing? I am wanting to know how to start out by myself instead of having to go to a trainer because I am on a very limited budget.
